An Intimate Moment with a Possessed Man
this is what got me...
"Somehow, somewhere, in some time past, the forces of darkness gained a foothold in his life. How, we are not told. Or where. Or when. But some time ago, they sought him out like a pride of lions seeking prey. Somewhere he gave ground. Somehow he gave them an opening through which to attack. And he's been a prisoner ever since."
How many times have I given Satan or his demons a foothold in my life? And every time I have, they bring me to my knees with it. I thank God that even though I do give them openings to attack me at times, I am still saved, so I cannot be possessed. If I could be, Im sure I would have been by now.
I had a discussion on letting Satan and his demons into your life on my blog awhile back. And pretty much everyone (but me) came to the concensus that you can do whatever you want as long as you are not convicted about it. Because if you are not convicted about it, then its not wrong for you. This does not sit well with me, and most of you know I have issues on conviction anyway. But for a "Christian" to live like the world, how is that being set apart? Why would anyone want to get saved if it doesnt mean a new life here and now?
This man had given Satan and his demons a foothold - probably a very tiny one in the beginning, and they ran with it. I cant imagine how many people are living in today's world with this same death sentence. And if we did know these people, how would we react? Would we back away and act like they are worthless, or would they see Christ through us?
*on a sidenote: I never understood why Jesus granted the demon's request to be banished to the pigs
*on another sidenote: I had a lightbulb moment when the demon said his name, b/c this is the only demon ever named that I can recall, and Ive always heard it said that there are only 3 angels named in the Bible: Gabriel, Michael, and Lucifer.... but no, there are 4 - Legion... its hard to remember that the demons were also angels as well at one time... just thought that interesting

Addie, it saddens me too to see Christians not living a life set apart. If they are living no differently than the world they will never be showing Christ to the ones around them.
I kind of think that the fallen angels kind of lost their status of *angels* when they fell...hence they became *demons*. No Biblical support other than their *class desgination* change from angels to demons.

Also, Gayla's mom most likely will go home to the Lord today.
Please uphold Gayla and her family in your prayers this week...
