An INcredible Moment in a Storm

Gire writes:

"Because within their minds they find themselves facing a more terrifying storm - a storm that came upon them as suddenly and as turbulently as the one they just survived. The vortex of that storm swirls around their master's identity.

Who is this? Even the wind and waves obey him!

Then their eyes see."

We really didn't get it, did we? We humans...watching Jesus heal the sick, cast out the demons, bring people back from the dead and we still haven't figured out that He is not our Savior?

My pastor told me once to be sure and keep in mind that we know how the story ends - for the disciples, they really were following by total faith. Back then it was probably easier to believe that Jesus was just more of a magician than a Savior. Magicians they knew. Prophets they knew. Teachers they knew. But had they ever yet met a Savior?

It reminds me of the night I watched a PBS special on Quantum Physics and they were explaining "The String Theory." Now don't laugh - I know you're wondering what I would be doing trying to watch such a show but like Nova or The Discovery Channel - I like it when someone dummies down science to the point where I can actually understand it. I find it highly fascinating. On this night they were talking about the fact that we are probably not living in only a three-dimensional world as we'd always thought but that it probably had endless dimensions that we just hadn't been able to prove scientifically exist yet.

I sat there watching that program thinking, "We can figure this out? How in the world did we ever think this up? Man can really come up with answers that make this make sense???"

I'll bet the Apostle's felt that way. He's more than a teacher? He's more than a miracle worker? He can actually tame the ocean?" You can almost see the light go on inside each of their minds as they begin to figure out the secret that is before them - one such secret now being shed with light to the point where they can finally understand such a complicated thing.

As for the prayer at the end...

I'd have to type the whole thing to show you the part that grabbed me the most because it all did. Each part caught in my throat and clung there, waiting for me to again be able to swallow.

Enjoy the discussion today. I'll check in later after my retreat and see what everyone else came up with. Have a beautiful weekend.

Love to you all~

  • We do know that there is another dimension because of the angels fighting all around us. Unless God opens our eyes we don't see them. Pretty amazing, isn't it?

  • From that theory (and it is still a theory) they've been able to determine at least eleven other dimensions. No wonder we find this universe so confusing... Have a wonderful retreat, Jules!
