An Incredible Moment with a Roman Official

This story touches so close to home this week. The family of a guy I work with was in a terrible wreck last week. His wife and two of his three kids were taken to the local hospital. The third child, his youngest, was taken to one of the best hospitals in the area… he was 5 years old. The wife and other two children were released a few days later. The little boy coded for the first two nights. They were told that he would never get better or wake up and that they had a big decision to make…. The boy passed away later that night.

The father sent the following message to all of those who were praying and supporting them in this time:

“This has been an extremely difficult time for us all, and we sincerely appreciate the prayers and comfort we have all received from you. It was very uplifting to have so many join us at Mass last night. Please remember that prayers are answered. The miracle we were praying for will be granted to the families who receive his organs.”

Talk about faith… this humbles me…

  • Where people get the strength to do things like this is truly evidence that all things are possible with God.

Humble is not even the word...

  • Oh, Addie, how sad for this family! Well, everyone at work who knows the family. I'll be praying for their healing. It is such a difficult thing to go through as a parent but the Lord does heal. And, of course, it takes time...which we have to travel through and oh, how we wish we could just wake up and find it's all a dream, instead of the very same day. Know what I mean?

  • yeah, Claire I do know what you mean...

reminds me of that scene from Sleepless in Seattle where the radio lady is talking to Tom Hanks, and he tells her how he kept going after his wife died...

Well, I'm gonna get out of bed every morning... breath in and out all day long. Then, after a while I won't have to remind myself to get out of bed every morning and breath in and out... and, then after a while, I won't have to think about how I had it great and perfect for a while.

  • Exactly!! That is a great example! And for the first few days after the funeral one doesn't necessarily get out of bed but it does eventually happen.

  • Addie, that example was perfect.
